The Adventure Tourism Uganda project was implemented by an impact cluster of seven companies: EyeOpenerWorks, Matoke Tours, Red Dirt Uganda, Home of Friends Guesthouse, Kara-Tunga Arts & Tours, Bergwandelen.com and UG-Motobike.

Works

The Adventure Tourism Uganda project (2020–2024) aimed to professionalize and diversify Uganda’s tourism sector. Through targeted collaborations in adventure related niche tourism segments including cycling, hiking, and running tourism, among others, Adventure Tourism Uganda developed more active tourism experiences in Uganda. The impact cluster of seven Dutch/Ugandan tourism businesses jointly invested in capacity building, product development, and international marketing, improving Uganda’s reputation as an adventure tourism destination.

Results

  • 297 people trained in tourism-related skills
  • 289 tourism-related jobs supported through training initiatives
  • 390 international tour operators informed about Uganda’s adventure tourism potential.
  • 121 business collaborations formed
  • 46 promotional materials and events developed, including the first Adventure Tourism Uganda Magazine and webinars attracting to the global audience
